Tim C. Mazur
Vice President, Ethics
Countrywide Financial Corporation
Tim is an ethicist with 18 years of
experience managing ethics, compliance, and social responsibility issues
in corporations, nonprofits, and other organizations. Fourteen of those
years were spent as a management consultant, helping client
organizations reshape their law-based compliance programs into
values-based ethics programs.
Tim has:
- taught business ethics and strategy
courses in the M.B.A. programs at six universities;
- published a dozen articles;
- appeared on national television as a
business ethics commentator as well as appeared in print, radio, and
the internet;
- worked in the U.S. Congress; and
- in a federal criminal matter, served
as the first expert witness ever approved by the U.S. Department of
Justice for judging the effectiveness of a corporate ethics program.
Tim earned his M.B.A. degree in business
economics and public policy at The George Washington University and a
B.A. degree in political science in his hometown of San Diego at San
Diego State University.
Tim Mazur is currently Vice President, Ethics, at Countrywide Financial
Corporation, the parent company of Countrywide Home Loans, the largest
originator and servicer of home loans in the United States.
Countrywide’s workforce numbers over-55,000 in all 50 states, Europe,
and Asia, with 10,000 of those men and women based in North Texas. Tim
joined Countrywide two years ago after serving as regional ethics and
compliance officer and regional privacy officer for Blue Cross Blue
Shield in Denver. Before that, Tim was director of Integrity Management
Services for KPMG’s Midwestern region based in Chicago.
