Richard O. Mason, PhD – Southern Methodist University
Dick
Mason is the director of the Cary Maguire Center for Ethics and Public
Responsibility and Carr P. Collins Distinguished Professor of Management
Information Sciences at the Cox School of Business of Southern Methodist
University in Dallas. He also co-chairs the North Texas Association of
Ethics, Character, and Values. He received his BS degree in business and
technology from Oregon State University and his PhD in business
administration from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Mason’s
current areas of teaching include Corporate Ethics and Responsibility,
Global Business Environment, and Managing Emerging Technologies. He is an
expert on business strategy and information systems, social and ethical
implications of information systems, and the history of information
systems. Dr. Mason has consulted for numerous corporations including
General Motors, Hughes Aircraft, Kodak, Wells Fargo, and Xerox. He has
also served in an advisory capacity to Parkland Hospital, the City of
Dallas, and the AAS “Project 2061 – Education for a Changing Future” in
San Antonio.
Robert D. Luss, JD – Occidental Chemical Corporation/Oxy Vinyls L.P.
He
earned his BS degree in accounting from Boston University and his JD from
the Suffolk Law School. He is currently licensed to practice law in
Texas, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. Bob is responsible for the all
legal aspects of OxyVinyls with an emphasis on contracts (sales, purchase
and engineering), real estate, environmental, safety, labor, antitrust and
litigation; he also provides similar services to OxyChem. Additionally,
he was past chair of the legal committee of the vinyls trade association.
David Reid, Texas Instruments, Inc.
David
Reid is Texas Instruments’ Vice President and director of Ethics and
Compliance. He has responsibility for managing TI’s worldwide ethics
program as well as oversight for compliance issues that come with doing
business both in the United States and internationally. David received
his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin
and a master’s degree in behavioral management from the University of
Texas at Dallas. He is a CPA and has experience in information systems,
banking and public accounting. He is a member of the AICPA, the Ethics
Officers Association, and sits on the Conference Board’s Global Council on
Business Conduct.
Gerald A. Turner, PhD, CSM, CPM – Gerald A. Turner Associates
Gerald Turner
specializes in Strategic Enterprise Change Management (SECM) for major
business sectors including chemicals, telecommunications, insurance,
energy, and utilities. As an enterprise strategy consultant, Gerald has
helped clients through effective strategy formulation, strategic plan
execution, operational excellence, and enterprise change management.
Gerald has worked with several ethics review bodies including boards for
professionals in private practice, public, and government organizations.
Gerald also developed and directed several corporate compliance programs
for government contractors conducting business in accordance with the U.
S. Federal Procurement Integrity Law. Before starting his own company,
Dr. Turner held several key executive positions in industry and worked as
a senior management consultant with major tier-one global management
consulting firms. Gerald holds BSEE and BSME degrees, an MS in Industrial
Systems Engineering & Management, an Executive-MBA, and a PhD in
Operations Research. He is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in
several states and also holds professional certifications in strategic
management (CSM) and enterprise program management (CPM).
Moderator: Ken Goldstein,
PE, CMC – KSG Consulting Group
Called “the Process Doctor” by several of his clients, Ken Goldstein
specializes in the evaluation and improvement of corporate and
enterprise-level business processes. He has applied his extensive
experience as both a corporate senior executive and a principal consultant
to the solution of business operations dilemmas in industries from
aerospace to coal mining. Ken holds BEE and MEE degrees from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute and an MS in Engineering Administration from
Southern Methodist University. A Registered Professional Engineer in
Texas as well as a Certified Management Consultant, he is an officer and
board member of the D/FW chapter of IMC and chairs the Ethics Section of
IMC USA’s Professional Development Task Force. He is the co-developer of
the EthicsCaseSM simulation on the IMC USA website and recently
spoke on “Real World Ethics Alternatives” at IMC USA’s 2003 National
